I started my paper crafting experience with playing with scrapbooking, but never got much accomplished! I could spend hours and hours on just one layout...so I moved on to cardmaking pretty quickly. :) In my mind their smaller size and defined purpose just made it so much easier and faster to create. But every Thursday I challenge myself to make something that isn't a card, and this week I decided to try my hand at a scrapbook layout. I have to say, I am thrilled with the final result!
I kept my layout smaller at 10" x 10", but you could definitely go with a traditional 12" x 12" size too. I started with a piece of Basic Black cardstock and added a strip of Flowering Fields DSP that is 2" wide to the left side, to anchor my design.
I layered several different photo mats in Bumblebee, black, and white cardstock, staggering them so you can see all the different layers. I die cut a Flowering Vine circle die from white cardstock and cut into smaller pieces, that I tucked into the top corners of the photo mat.
I tied a piece of Old Olive 3/4" grosgrain ribbon (retired) around the bottom of my layout, about 2" from the edge.
I cut another five delicate circle dies from the Flowering Vine die set in Thick Whisper White cardstock, and five circles from white, Poppy Parade, Bumblebee, and Granny Apple Green cardstocks with the a Stitched Circle die. I carefully layered five die cuts onto five circles and added them to my background, varying the heights with the use of dimensionals.
Are you a scrapbooker?
