Stampin' Friends Perfectly Punched Blog Hop

I've come to the startling conclusion that I don't have very many current punches these days!  I've been all about dies for several years because they are so easy to use and store, but I was up for the challenge of creating with punches. In some ways this was easy--I only have the Penguin Builder Punch, so I didn't have to decide what to make!  :)  This is a carry forward item from previous catalogues, but he's such a cutie it wasn't a hardship to dust off my punch and Penguin Place Stamp Set and create something fresh and new:

If you've hopped here from Steph's blog, welcome!  It's going to be another great blog hop today, be sure to follow along with the next link at the end of my post.

For my punched project I started with a Thick Basic White card base of 5.5" x 8.5" scored at 4.25", and added a strip of patterned paper from the Sun Prints DSP pack.  I thought the pattern looked like little penguin footprints in the snow!

Then I got to work on my snowy background.  I took a 4" square of Basic White Cardstock and die cut a wonky open using the Layering Diorama Dies.  After die cutting, I ran the square through my Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine using the Gingham Embossing Folder, just to give it some texture.

Next, I took another 4" square of Basic White Cardstock and embossed it with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.  I thought this made the ice look very realistic!

I stamped two penguins from the Penguin Place Stamp Set in Black Memento Ink and punched them out with the Penguin Builder Punch.  The punch also cuts out those adorable little feet, which I stamped in Pale Papaya Ink and then glued to the penguin bodies.

Before attaching my ice rink to the front of my card I wrapped it with some Orchid Oasis Woven Metallic Ribbon tied into a pretty bow.  I popped the two penguins up inside the rink on dimensionals, and added a sentiment from the Penguin Place Stamp Set that I heat embossed in White Embossing Powder on Orchid Oasis Cardstock.  I also added a bit of striped paper in Orchid Oasis to anchor my sentiment.

For my 3D project this month I made a coordinating little penguin bag.

I took a 4.5" x 6.5" piece of the same Sun Prints DSP and scored it on the long side at 2", 3", 5" and 6".  On the short side I scored it at 1" and 3.25".  Then I cut away bits as pictured below:

I tied some more of the Orchid Oasis Metallic Ribbon around the treat holder, and added another stamped and punched penguin to the front with dimensionals, which also help hold the ribbon in place.  He's too cute!  And for some added depth here I placed mini dimensionals behind his feet!

Thank you so much for stopping by today to see my projects, I hope they brought a smile to your face.  I'd love it if you left me a comment before hopping along!
