Stampin' Friends Give Thanks Blog Hop

Canadian Thanksgiving was last week and we had a great time finally getting together with family again!  I knew I wanted to celebrate in style and the Stampin' Friends Give Thanks Blog Hop provided the perfect reason to go all out.  I made this pretty card to share with a dear friend, and matching place card silverware holders to decorate my Thanksgiving table:

Stampin Up Thank You Card

If you are following along the hop, you have arrived from Jo Blackman's (UK)
blog.  Be sure to read through my blog, comment below and continue to  Jean Beaulieu's (US) blog.  If you get lost along the way you can find a list of Blog Hoppers at the end of each blog.

As always, I've bolded the names of the Stampin' Up! products I used to make my projects.  If you are interested in purchasing anything you see and don't already have a demonstrator I would be grateful for your business. :)

Handmade thank you card

I just adore this DSP from the Tidings of Christmas pack.  I see the most beautiful fall colour and wheat stalks in the pattern.  For both projects I used a colour palette of Cherry Cobbler, Basic White and Gold, and of course my favourite Stitched Greenery Die for amazing texture.

The card is a standard 5.5" x 8.5" Thick White Cardstock base, scored and folder at 4.25", on which I added the stitching on just the bottom 1.5".  The Tidings of Christmas DSP is 3" x 5.5" and I layered it onto a stitched scallop Cherry Cobbler border from the Hand Penned Dies set before gluing it onto my prepared card base.

Sunflower Die

I am not a big yellow fan but I LOVE the intricate Sunflowers Die, so my favourite thing to do is to cut it from Basic White cardstock for a more subtle colour.  To add some depth I coloured the middle of the large die cut and the centre die cut with my Crumb Cake Blends.  I glued just the centre of my sunflower to the far left of my card base, so the petals remain loose.  I also popped the flower centre up on a dimensional for some additional depth.

Sunflower Die

The Hippo Friends Dies include some amazing stitched labels, which perfectly fit my sentiment from the Prized Peonies Stamp Set.  I love how easy it is to mix-and-match Stampin' Up! products to create uniquely-you pieces!  I heat embossed Gold Embossing Powder for my sentiment and added some gold foliage using more of the Sunflowers Dies.  The label is also popped up on dimensionals so it matches up nicely with the sunflower centre.

I kept the inside of my card blank so there is lots of room to write your thoughts of gratitude, but I did add a 0.5" x 5.5" strip of the same Tidings of Christmas DSP to add colour to the inside.

I used almost all of the same products for my silverware holder, which doubles as a place card for your holiday table.

Place Card Holder

I started with a Thick White base cut to 3.5" x 11.5", scored at 3".  I removed a diagonal piece by marking the 5" point (from the bottom) and then cutting from that mark to the top right corner with my Stampin' Trimmer.  I then embossed the "flap" and the background with the Stitched Greenery Die....it doesn't quite cover the entire back of the holder, but that is hidden by the flap and isn't noticeable at all.

I added a 1.5" piece of the same Tidings of Christmas DSP to another Cherry Cobbler scalloped border (Hand Penned Dies) and glued it directly to the flap.  A length of Gold Shimmer Ribbon tied around the base keeps the flap closed while still allowing room for the thickness of the silverware to fit inside.

Sunflower Die

I used the same technique on my Basic White Sunflower Die with my Crumb Cake Blends, and used the same label die from the Hippo Friends Dies to make space to write the name of each person.  I used a gold metallic pen to match my colour scheme, but you could also print the sentiment with your computer onto cardstock and then die cut if you want a more formal personalized look.

This is a simple project but so pretty, and easy to alter to each holiday to really step up your festive table!

I am so grateful that you stopped by today.  If you like my projects please leave a comment below, it would make my day!  And please keep hopping along and see everyone's projects by clicking on their names--and leave them comments if you can!

Happy Crafting,

Barb
