The last few weeks of Sale-a-bration are winding up (ending February 28) but I am still having lots of fun using my free products...and planning my next order to make sure I get at least one more before the promotion is over! No doubt after seeing all of the projects in this month's Stamping Symphony Blog Hop I'll be inspired for at least one more round. :)
For my project this month I'm using the free Sunshine & Rainbows DSP with a fancy gate fold card with a belly band.
Isn't that bright and cheery paper just the thing we all need in this mid-winter period?! Every time I play with this paper I can't help but feel like brighter days are ahead. To create the fun fold start with a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock measuring 5.5" x 11". Score it on the long side at 1.25", 3 3/8", 7 5/8", and 9.75". Mountain fold at the first and last score lines, and valley fold the middle score lines, and you'll end up with this:
I added two strips of the Sunshine and Rainbows DSP that were cut to 5 3/8" x 1 1/8" each to the outside flaps, and decorated the inside of the card with a piece of Basic White cardstock layered on a Polished Pink cardstock panel and some more of the DSP.
When folded up, the base forms a regular 5.5" x 4.25" footprint, so it fits in a standard A2 envelope.
Moving on to the belly band:
I used a piece of Basic White cardstock about 0.75" wide and 4 3/8" long, and gently folded it around my closed card base. You want to make sure it is loose enough to slide easily on/off the base, but not so loose that it just slides right off. Once the ends are glued together to form the loop, I added a piece of DSP to the band (blue background with rainbows).
I then die cut a scalloped stitched rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and embossed it with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder for all that texture. I wrapped some Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon around it and tied it in a pretty bow. I fussy cut a rainbow from a piece of the DSP, as well as the cloud, and popped them up on dimensionals on top of the ribbon. I then heat embossed the sentiment, from the coordinating Rainbow of Happiness Set, in White Embossing Powder on Basic Black cardstock and hand cut around the letters.
The fonts and sayings in this stamp set are so great too! I mean, who doesn't deserve "a little something to brighten your day", right? I also added some Polished Dots embellishments to the belly band because I think they look like drops of water!
Before you hop along to see the rest of the projects this month I hope you'll leave me a comment. Do you like fun folds as much as I do? I'd love to hear from you!
