Halloween Inspiration Challenge (#TGIFC338)

I thought I wouldn't be able to play along with the #TGIFC338 challenge this week, as I don't have any Halloween stamps!  But necessity is the mother of invention, right?  So I pulled together a few things from my craft supply and made a Halloween-inspired card!

I did what is always best when stuck for direction--follow a card sketch!  This multi-layered design became the perfect jumping off point.

I started with a top-folding Basic Black Cardstock base (4.25" x 11", scored at 5.5").  I then pulled out my package of Pattern Party DSP, which has some amazing colourful prints...but also a few versatile black and white patterns too!

My largest panel (4" x 5.25") is a piece of Rich Razzleberry Cardstock embossed with the Timeworn Texture 3D Embossing Folder.  I gently brushed some Night of Navy Ink over the raised bits, which added even more depth and texture.  I added a cardstock layer to each of the different panels for my background in either Basic White, Basic Gray, or Rich Razzleberry.

I'm still playing with ombre looks and my Blending Brushes, and knew that adding a Rich Razzleberry/Blackberry Bliss combo to the black and white palette would evoke the perfect Halloween look.  For some added depth to the colour I actually added Night Of Navy Ink to the very top of my centre panel, which blends into an amazing deep purple colour on top of the Blackberry Bliss ink.

I also embossed the black circle for my sentiment with the Dots Embossing Folder, before adding the "Treat Yourself" sentiment from the Sweet Ice Cream Stamp Set on dimensionals (the sentiment is heat embossed in White Embossing Powder and hand cut).

The Black & White Gingham Ribbon is the BEST!  I love it for Christmas but it was also the perfect companion to this card.  I made a pom-pom style bow with raggedy edges for a unique embellishment.  And I finished the look with a bunch of scattered, itty-bitty rhinestones from my stash for some shine.

I hope you will take a second look at your stash and see what products you have that can do double-duty too!  Making your supplies go further will feel great.  :)

Thanks for stopping by today, I'd love to hear from you in the comments below.  If you'd like to purchase any of the items I used for your own projects, they are available in my online store.  Don't forget to pop over to the TGIF site too to see all the other Halloween-inspired projects!

Happy Crafting,

Barb
