Flourishing Phrases Wedding Card

Weddings seem to wait for Spring just like the rest of us, and with the promised sunshine and (dare I say it) double-digit weather this weekend, I was inspired to create a wedding card.  It could also do double-duty as a shower card.

I used the Flourishing Phrases stamp set and coordinating dies.  This set is so fantastic, as it includes a ton of sentiments as well as images, so you can make a complete project with just one set.

I Ĺ•eally wanted to keep a soft, tone-on-tone colour palette for this card, so I used only Whisper White and Very Vanilla cardstock in my design.

I layered two die cuts from the Flourish Thinlits (one each in white and vanilla) on top of a Thick Whisper White card base.  It reminds me of the detail you find on wedding dresses, the bits of elaborate lace layered over luxurious fabric.

I lightly tapped a piece of my doily against my Versamark pad, and embossed just a bit of gold on the very edge.  I think it looks very vintage!

These doilies are about to retire, so get them while you can!

I also embossed my "congratulations" sentiment in gold on a small strip of whisper white, and adhered it to my card base with dimensionals.

A whole bunch of Pearl Basic Jewels in various sizes added just the right final touch.  Those pearls always remind me of tiny covered buttons on fancy dresses!

I stepped up the inside of my card as well, although it is difficult to see in the picture.  I stamped the flourish image from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set on the lower left corner on a piece of Very Vanilla mat, and embossed it in gold as well.

This card has just the right amount of sheen and polish to suit any wedding!

The retiring list has been posted and there are some new items on the Clearance Rack, so be sure to check out all the goodies before they are gone!  I am featuring retiring products on my Instagram and Facebook posts each day, so please follow me to see them all in action. You can place an order online through my store, or email me with any questions.

Have a great week!

Goodbye to Butterfly Basics (Blog Hop)

Image may contain: text

Well, it is a snowy, icy, miserable day today...it is mid-April, right?  Ridiculous!  I'm not going to let Mother Nature get me down though, one way or another it will be Spring eventually!

Last weekend I attended the Stampin' Up! On Stage! event, where I got my hands on the new annual catalogue--yippee!!!  I also got to play with some of the new products and new colours, which is always a treat.

Unfortunately, that also means the retiring list is out, which means we need to say goodbye to some of our old favourites to make room for new favourites. :(  It's never easy to say goodbye, but I'm going to make the most of it over the next few weeks and play with my retiring sets as much as possible!

So it is very accommodating that this month's Stamping Symphony Blog Hop's theme is showcasing retiring items.

I let Spring shine through on this card!  It features a few different techniques and is very soft and pretty.

First, I randomly stamped the large and small butterflies, and flower/fern image, from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in white embossing powder.

Then, I watercoloured my background with all of the retiring 2016-2018 In Colours (Flirty Flamingo, Dapper Denim, Sweet Sugarplum, Emerald Envy, and Peekaboo Peach).

I then used the Bold Butterfly die to make a mask out of some scrap chipboard....

And laid that over my watercoloured piece, adding Shimmery White Embossing paste to make 3-D, sparkly butterflies.

Once dry, I wrapped some Emerald Envy ruched ribbon around the panel and adhered it to a Thick Whisper White Card base.  I added a white embossed sentiment stamped on Emerald Envy cardstock, and fancied-up the corners with my circle punch (a trick I learned at On Stage!).  See how those butterflies are just a bit of extra texture to the panel?

On the inside I used a font from the also-retiring set, Patterns and Pieces.  I think they coordinate so well together, and that set has a plethora of adorable images too!

I am going to miss having the butterflies in my arsenal, they have always been my go-to when I'm stuck!  I've already picked out some great new sets in the upcoming catty though, so my pain will be short-lived!

Here is a look at the retiring items:
