It's time for another post inspired by the #TGIFC site! This week we were challenged to make place cards or table settings. Since I just created a table setting for Canadian Thanksgiving here, I decided to go with place cards:
Isn't this little polka dot box just the cutest? It's part of the Little Love Boxes Add-On from Paper Pumpkin, and it's on the clearance rack right now! It's the perfect size for a little after-dinner mint or chocolate treat on your holiday table.
I went back to my go-to products this year, the
Christmas Season bundle, but approached it from a different look with watercolour paper and my spritzer bottle.
I started by blending a mix of green inks (Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, and Garden Green) on some watercolour paper, and then spritzed it liberally with water. This allowed all the ink to pool and flow into amazing patterns. I then die cut the leaves with the coordinating Seasonal Labels dies, sponged some Soft Suede ink on the edges, and gathered them into a bunch with dimensionals in between each layer.
I repeated the process using brown inks (
Crumb Cake and Soft Suede) for the top layer of the pinecone dies, and layered them onto
Soft Suede cardstock bottom layers. I also used the same technique with Real Red ink for the "berries", which are from the
Forever Flourishing dies.
Using one of the label dies from the Seasonal Labels die set, I cut a scalloped label from Basic White cardstock and stamped some of the leaves from the Christmas Season stamp set in Garden Green on the left side, then added my bunched foliage with glue dots.
I wrapped my treat box with some Evening Evergreen DSP from the Tidings of Christmas pack, and added some Black & White check ribbon as well, covering the seam with my decorated label. I added a small bow from the same ribbon, and some Gilded Gems for a little sparkle.
A special place card for your holiday guests really makes for a memorable start to your holiday table, if this isn't something you usually do I highly recommend you giving it a try this year!
Thanks for stopping by to see my place card, and if you haven't checked out the other entries from the #TGIF343 challenge be sure to pop over there for some great inspiration. But before you go, please leave me a comment, I'd love to hear from you. :)
Happy crafting,
Barb
