TGIF Colour Challenge

I was selected as the winner of last week's TGIF Challenge!  These challenges have been an amazing kickstart to my creativity--no more wondering where to start.  I am very appreciative of the time the TGIF team puts into running this challenge, and thrilled to have another week's inspriation.

This week's challenge is a colour challenge, and it is not my traditional colour palette!  However, I was ready to think outside the holiday-box and decided to make a floral wedding card with this combination.

I started by stamping my floral images, from Prized Peony and Forever Fern, in the challenge colours of Misty Moonlight, Just Jade and Pool Party on Vellum.  I cut the vellum to 5.25" x 3", and scored it at 2 1/8", so that it would wrap around the back of my white base and make an interesting see-through gate fold card.

I added splatter from my Blends to fill in some of the white space, and I think it adds an artistic flare.  The blends spread a little further on the vellum then they do on regular cardstock, so it's a very different look.

The inside of the card is a top-folding Basic White card base, which I cut to 4 1/8" x 10 3/4".  This allows for a plain white panel to show behind the vellum fold, and still decorate the inside of the card.  I used the same stamps and ink on the inside of my card, and added a sentiment from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.

I decided to add a small belly band to help keep the gatefold closed.  I used the stitched scalloped border die from the Penned Flowers Dies to make a pretty little band in Basic White, and wrapped Linen Thread around the band two times before tying in a bow.

The Give It A Whirl die set includes several pretty hearts, which I used to create my sentiment focal point.  The "Mr. & Mrs." sentiment is from the Many Happenings stamp set, stamped in Misty Moonlight ink.

Do you think a happy couple would like to receive this card on their wedding day?  I'd love to hear your thoughts below!  And don't forget to check out all the other challenge cards on the TGIF site this week.

Thank you for stopping by, and happy crafting,

Barb

  1. Super pretty! I always love a belly band and your use of the vellum is so lux.
