Creation Station Go For The Gold Blog Hop

Here we are in September already--which means it's also time for another Creation Station Design Team Blog Hop!  This month's theme is Go For The Gold, so I got to play with shiny paper, gold embossing powder and a brand new fun fold:

Welcome to everyone joining me from Julie's page!  I'm so glad you're here.  The Creation Station team has tons of inspiration for you this month!

How cool is this fun fold?!  My upline, Leena, shared this at our last team meeting, and I knew it would be the perfect backdrop to showcase this gorgeous Very Vanilla and Gold paper from the Lights Aglow DSP pack.

Here are the measurements for the card base:

- 5.5" x 7.0", scored at 0.5" and 1.5" on each end of the long side

- 2" x 5.5" (2 pcs)

- 1.5" x 5.25" (2 pcs)

- 1" x 5" (2 pcs), scored at 0.5" and tapered at the top (these form the hinges for the top piece)

And the DSP measurements are:

- 1 3/8" x 5 1/8" (2 pcs)

- 1 7/8" x 5.25"  (2 pcs)

The card itself is quite simple when assembled, it's the belly band that really holds all the decoration.  Here is a top-down look at how the base gets put together:

My belly band is 1.5" wide, and I added a piece of embossed Very Vanilla Cardstock to the front (using the snowflake pattern in the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder set) before tying the Gold Satin Edge Ribbon around the band, ending with a pretty bow.

I turned a die cut Wonderful Snowflake gold by pressing my Versamark ink pad all over the die cut, and then adding my Gold Embossing Powder and blasting it with my heat gun.  It turned out so great!

I also heat embossed my sentiment, from the Brightest Gold Stamp Set, and then die cut it with a label die from the coordinating Labels Aglow Dies.  Finally, I added some gold stamped and die cut snowflakes from the Christmas Lights Stamp Set.  I used various layers of Dimensionals to add depth and interest to the belly band too!

The inside of my card leaves lots of room for a personalized note, along with some final gold decorations.

Thank you so much for popping by my blog today!  If you have a minute to leave me a comment I'd love to hear from you before you head on to see Mikaela's project over at The Crafty oINKpen.  You can click below to get to her page, or join us on Instagram too!

Happy crafting,
Barb
