Creation Station Inspired by Water Blog Hop

This month's Creation Station Design Team blog hop theme, Inspired by Water, was so much fun!  I knew I wanted to use a technique but I just wasn't loving my super-washed out watercolouring (I need more practice!), so instead I decided to make this amazing alcohol ink watery background.

For those of you joining me from Mikaela Ticheridge , welcome!  I'm always inspired by what the team creates each month, and excited to see what everyone has for us today.

I LOVE how this card turned out!  I started with vellum paper and my Dark Bermuda Bay, Dark Night Of Navy, and Light Bermuda Bay Blends.  I scribbled puddles of colour over my vellum and soaked it in 99% Isopropyl Alcohol.  Usually I drop the alcohol sparingly, but this time I added lots and blew it around a bunch.

Once it was dry I also spritzed some alcohol on the vellum, which provided some great texture, and I also dipped my Aquapainter in the alcohol and splattered big droplets too.  I then added it to a top-folding Thick Basic White card base (4.25" x 11", scored at 5.5") with Tear-and-Tape across the top.

Since I had my vellum on my desk, I also stamped and heat embossed some of the blooms and leaves from the Happiness Abounds stamp set with white embossing powder.  I adore the lines in these images.

I used the new Charming Sentiments stamp set to stamp and heat emboss my sentiment on Bermuda Bay cardstock.  I die cut my sentiment with the matching Sentiment Silhouettes dies, added Tear-and-Tape to the back, and then set it onto my arranged floral vellum pieces.  Once they were adhered, I added dimensionals to the die cut and placed it onto my card front.

I added some of the new 2022-2024 In Colour Matte Decorative Dots around my floral images.

Doesn't this remind you of the coastline of a tropical island?!  I am dreaming of sandy beaches these days as we finally see summer arrive in Ontario. :)
