Our theme for today's Stamping Symphony Blog Hop was Halloween, which originally threw me for a bit of a loop. I love fall, but I don't decorate for Halloween, or have a lot of interest besides opening the door to the cuties. But, when in doubt, start creating!
I knew a Halloween treat box was going to be my project, but I was stumped with what it would look like. I have played with the Tiny Treats boxes a LOT this fall (check out my Facebook page for pictures of how I made them into turkeys, fall foliage, Christmas treats, and more!), so I wanted to do something a little different. And honestly, a bit bigger. You can't fit a lot of those tiny chocolate bars in the treat boxes, and they are my go-go for Halloween!
I decided to break out my brand new brayer and turn a gable box purple, and I was so surprised with how easy it was! The purple turned out nice and vibrant, which was just the look I was going for.
Then it was just a matter of looking through my supplies and seeing what worked. I heat embossed some white spider webs on black cardstock and punched them out with the coordinating punch. I cut some strips of Botanical Blooms DSP to wrap around the box. I died some white ribbon with Mango Melody ink, using a sponge dauber. Then assembled it all together.
I topped it off with a banner with my "Less Tricks and More Treats" sentiment, which is so much fun, and a perfect way of expressing my interest in Halloween. :)
And then I couldn't resist going back to my tiny treat boxes--they really are super fun! I think these would make great little treats for the kids that you know that come to your door trick or treating. They actually hold a lot of loose candies, so you can give them to parents who trust you. ;)
