Something Spooky This Way Comes Paper Pumpkin

I was very excited to see what this month's Paper Pumpkin kit had in store--the super spooky box alone was a great surprise!

Wondering what Paper Pumpkin is?  It's a monthly mail-order kit that comes with everything you need to complete the project inside.  Check out my Pumpkin Bunch page for details on the free evening class you receive if you subscribe through me!

But I digress.

This month's kit was especially fun, as it included products to create 24 (yep--24!!!) super adorable treat bags!  I love to give the people in my a life a little something every holiday to show how much they mean to me, and these are soooooo cute!

And just when you think the fun is over, you realize there are enough "left-overs" from the kit to make a few more projects!  There's never a shortage with paper pumpkin. :)  In fact, I made 3 super fun Hallowe'en cards from my extras (the ghost is my favourite, although those shiny spiders running everywhere are pretty spooky too!).

A little light sponging around the pumpkin die cut to give it some dimension before adding the silver foil piece behind (for shiny eyes and mouth), and then popped up on a dimensional in the corner.  I clear embossed the spiders so that you don't see them at first, but then realize they are under your fingers!  (bah-ha-ha).

You can't see it well in the picture, but the "boo!" stickers are silver foil, so they really stand out on the Basic Gray cardstock.  I added some stamped "boos" in Basic Gray ink too, making my own custom foiled DSP.

For this bat card I used the page that the bat dies popped out of as a stencil, and sponged some bats on the cardstock, then used some clear glue to make them 3D and shiny.

Regretting that you missed out on the fun?  It's not too late!  Paper Pumpkin subscribers are able to buy full past kits when available, so subscribe today and you can get your hands on September's kit.  Stampin' Up! also sells "refill kits", which include all of the consumables (paper, stickers, twine) but without the stamp set, at a reduced price, so if you need more than 24 treat bags, a refill kit is perfect for you.

Hope you will join me for our next Pumpkin Bunch night, October 5.

Have a spooky week!

Making Christmas Bright

My first must-have of the new Holiday Catalogue was the Making Christmas Bright stamp set and coordinating punch.  I posted this card on my Instagram account shortly after receiving the bundle, but wanted to share it with you here as well.  It combines several of my favourite things:  a watercolour background, a rainbow of colour, glitter, and stitching!

Here is the close up from Instagram:

And here is a shot showing some of the inks and tools I used to create it:

Wondering how I got those faux stitches on the outside of my main panel?  They are new dies in the Stitched Labels set--and they have a cross-stitch one too!!!

This was a super fast card to make, but one that I think packs a lot of punch (no pun intended!).

Join my class on October 13 to make a card of your very own, and check out my newly redesigned craft studio.

I used bright colours for my card, would you like to see it in shades of blues for a more modern touch?  Comment below!
