Baby Elephant Card

My card this week was one of my make-and-takes from my Open House last weekend, and it features the super cute new Little Elephant stamp set and the Elephant Builder punch.

Such a simple card but just perfect to welcome that new little human to the world.  I used just three colours--Mint Macaron, Garden Green, and Soft Sea Foam (which is far and away my very favourite of the new core colours)-- and a double-layer of Whisper White.

I used the new Tufted dynamic embossing folder to add some delicate texture to a layer of white before adhering it to my white card base.  I stamped the little elephant twice in Mint and once in Sea Foam on white cardstock, and then punched them out with the coordinating Elephant Builder punch.

I layered a strip of Sea Foam cardstock with a layer of white, and added a tiny little "tag" to the back of the strips, with my Sweet Baby sentiment stamped in Garden Green.

My mini elephants were added to the strip, about 2" down, using dimensionals.

I kept the inside simple as well.  Because my card base was made with thick cardstock I didn't need to add layers inside (one of the reasons I love that product!).  I stamped one more mini elephant in Sea Foam in the bottom corner, and "Hello little one" in Garden Green.

I went with a neutral palette for my card so that it was appropriate for a girl or a boy,  but this could easily be changed to more traditional pinks and blues.  This is one of the main benefits of the new colour revamp--the colours lend themselves to this ombre look so easily!

I'll end with a brief reminder about my upcoming class on July 7.  Please email me to reserve your seat, I designed our projects yesterday and they are so fun!

Have a great week,
Barb

Animal Expedition Suite Makes a Great Pair (Blog Hop)

It's time for another Stamping Symphony Blog Hop--already!  Luckily our theme this month is to feature items from the new annual catalogue, and I have spent a lot of time over the last two weeks making samples for my Open House tomorrow.  The hard part is picking which one to show you all!

My favourite suite (so far!) is definitely Animal Expedition.  What's a suite you ask?  Well let me tell you. :)  A suite is a grouping of products that all coordinate perfectly together.  We're talking ink, cardstock, Designer Series Paper, stamp set, framelits, and embellishments--everything you could possibly want to make some incredible projects!

Stampin' Up has always been known for their incredible coordination, but they have stepped it up a further notch with this suite--THE FRAMELITS CUT OUT THE ANIMALS IN THE DSP PAPER!!!  Sorry, did I yell that?  It is just sooo cool.  I'll have an example of a card I made using this technique for you later, but in the meantime, on to my blog hop card!

This card was inspired by Kylie Bertucci, a demonstrator down under in Australia.  I went to my go-to place and watercoloured this little guy while I waited for my coordinating products to arrive (I won him at On Stage in April).  Isn't he too cute?!

I started by embossing my image in Basic Black Embossing Powder, which has been brought out of retirement this year.  I coloured him with Gray Granite and some Powder Pink on his horn, with a Pineapple Punch bird friend and Call Me Clover Grass.

What a cutie!
That strip of DSP just pops off the card front, doesn't it?  But what really takes it over the top is that gorgeous leaf ribbon.

Seriously, I love it all.

Want to see it in person?  Or even better, get the suite for free??  Stop by my Open House tomorrow (June 16) between 10 am-2 pm!  Check out my Events page for more details.

To balance the card I added a white-embossed sentiment on black cardstock in the bottom corner.  I could not be happier with this card--totes adorbs!

That's it for me folks, but keep on hopping!  My teammates have some great projects to show you too.

JustBStamping (Barb--you're here!)

See you tomorrow!

Easy Birthday Card (3 of 3) with Picture Perfect Birthday

I'm back with my final card from my New To Stamping class last week, and it might just be my favourite. 😁

Layers upon layers make this card something special yet so easy to do.  We started with a small rectangle of Whisper White and stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay.  To draw emphasis to the "you" on the stamp, we sponged Lemon Lime Twist ink over just that part of the stamp before stamping.  I love how it just blends seamlessly into the Bermuda Bay.

This was layered onto three other layers:  Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist (die cut with the scallop square die) and finally Bermuda Bay.  I popped up that whole lot on a dimensional on yet another layer of Whisper White that was embossed with the Sequin Dynamics embossing folder.

My Bermuda Bay card base really helps this card be a bright and cheerful birthday wish.  As a final decoration to this super simple card, we stamped a paper party whistle in all of the coordinating colours.  So much fun!

I hope you have enjoyed this series of easy cards, and will join me next month for my New To Stamping class!

And once again a reminder about my big retirement sale next weekend (June 16) starting at 10am.  I will have lots of things to see and do.  RSVP for some extra-special treatment. :)

Easy Birthday Card (2 of 3) with Picture Perfect Birthday

Today I will share the second card we made at my New To Stamping class last Saturday.   I will share the third and final card on Friday, so be sure to check back for that.

I kept the theme to birthday because everybody needs birthday cards!  And it is also just a little something more to recive a handmade card  for your birthday, isn't it?

For this card I used only the Picture Perfect set--but it was easy because this set has a great mix of fun fonts and images.  I was again inspired by Pinterest, just search for this stamp set an so many great ideas come up!

I started with a thick Whisper White card base and added a strip of Berry Burst and a flag of Lemon Lime Twist.  I'm not sure if you can see it in the pictures, but we randomly stamped the flag with a tiny triangle stamp from the set.  This is a great way to create variety without adding DSP.

We stamped three solid candles in Berry Burst, Pool Party and Lemon Lime and topped them with Mango Melody flames.  Overtop we layered the sentiment in black Memento ink before cutting out  stitched circle with the Big Shot.  I love using circles for sentiments because you don't have to worry about stamping straight--a common frustration for new stampers.

By using the thick cardstock for the base we were able to stamp directly on the inside of the card, which I love.  We added a few  more of those tiny trial goes to tie in the front of the card.

My New To Stamping class takes place on the first Saturday of each month, no experience necessary.  😊  I hope you will consider joining in on the fun!

I continue to work feverishly on items for my retired sale and open house next week (click on my events page for details).  Don't forget to RSVP in advance for some extra-special goodies.

Easy Birthday Card (1 of 3) with Picture Perfect Birthday

Hi Everyone, Happy Monday!  This past Saturday I held my " new to stamping" class and featured three cards simple but fun birthday cards using the Picture Perfect stamp set and inspired by designs I saw on Pinterest.  This is such a great set for a beginner stamper, as it includes fun fonts AND images, so you really get some bang for your buck.  I paired it with the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set for my first card, as I wanted to highlight the ease of the coordinating balloon  punch.  These two sets go together so well!

Here is the first card we made:

I used a tone-on-tone technique with Lemon Lime Twist ink on matching cardstock with the ballon image from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set.  I created a smaller panel for the left-hand side of the card front and added a stamped and punched balloon, popped up on a dimensional.  I stamped some Bermuda Bay accents on my balloon too, and loved that pop of colour!

I also stamped some confetti and a sentiment from the Picture Perfect set, and added a balloon string in the new Gray Granite.

For the inside of my card I stamped a bouquet of balloons floating off the top of the panel, and added the Bermuda Bay highlights to just a few.  A sentiment and fini!

I will share the other two cards we made later this week.

Interesting in joining my classes?  I would love to hear from you, comment below or email me for details.

And don't forget my upcoming Buy On Get One Free sale next Saturday!  I have lots of goodies for sale and fun planned to launch the new catalogue.  RSVP in advance for extra goodies. 😊

Thanks for stopping by,
Barb
